WHO
We are Brian and Monica, the husband and wife team that created Carsick Designs out of a desire to mend together our shared love of bicycles and the outdoors with our passion for making with our hands, as our ancestors did, and to do our part to keep that tradition alive.
Brian began designing bicycle panniers after purchasing an Xtracycle cargo bike in 2007. Being the do-it-yourselfer that he is, he made his own racks for it and designed a pattern for the panniers which his mom made. After inheriting his grandfather’s mid-century industrial Singer sewing machine in 2009 he began designing and making panniers for regular sized bike racks and other bags that can be attached to a bike.
A bike is more to us than a toy, an exercise machine, or a lesser form of transportation. We enjoy utilizing our bikes for bike touring, bike camping, commuting, getting groceries, clearing our heads, enhancing our mood and just for the sheer joy of it. When on our bikes we are able to take time and notice our surroundings as we ride. We believe bikes have the power to change the world because they changed ours.
We are inspired by timeless materials and utilitarian simplicity. We design, cut, and sew each item we make and are dedicated to putting the utmost care and attention into every detail. We pride ourselves on our craftsmanship and customer service and want you to enjoy your experience buying our products and enjoying those products on many adventures for years to come.
